Financial Support

There will be available some limited financial support for most highly qualified participants by various funding institutions, e.g. by the European Physical Society and by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia. Eligible are candidates from economically weak countries, especially from the Eastern European (former socialistic) countries and developing countries. Excluded are countries of the European Union, other countries of Western Europe (like Switzerland), USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, etc. To apply:

  1. Fill out the application form like all other participants and indicate that you are applying for financial support.
  2. Make a bank transfer of the advance payment of 550 € (about 490 US$) to the bank account of the Summer School/Conference. Send a proof of the payment, namely a faxed copy of the transfer to the fax number +(386 2) 2355 360.
  3. Send an informal application to the email address chaos-support@uni-mb.si enclosing C.V., a list of publications and two letters of recommendation. Please note that email attachments in proprietary formats (eg. MS Word, PowerPoint) are not welcome. Use plain text, html, pdf, etc.; i.e. data formats with publicly available specifications and multiple widely-available implementations.

The deadline for applying for financial support was 18 April 2002. The candidates will be notified before 25 May 2002 about what financial support has been approved. Typical support will not exceed 500 € (about 440 US$). In exceptional cases when the approved support is higher the candidate will be reimbursed the advance payment of 550 € upon her/his arrival and registration in Maribor (normally on Sunday, 30 June 2002).
