The Toti Big Band

Maribor have been very successfully keeping up the tradition of performing popular music for some years now. In October 1992 a couple of professional musicians decided to establish a big band orchestra. They invited some other famous artists and so the Toti Big Band Maribor was founded. At the very beginning, the group consisted of 28 members, and in March 1993 they made their debut. Since then we can enjoy their excellent music in concerts, they also perform on gala balls, they appear in TV shows, etc. They gave some excellent performances of the immortal music of Glen Miller, Duke Ellington and others. Of course they also perform modern pieces by Slovenian composers. The members of the orchestra sometimes play in smaller groups, such as Dixieland, Pop-Rock or Folk. Most of the musicians are professionals; they either work as music teachers or as performers at the opera house. They plan to make a recording (CD) of the most popular music of the golden jazz era. The artistic leader and conductor of the Toti Big Band is Marjan Golob.

And here they are in the concert on the occasion of their second anniversary. Let's hear some of their interpretations - for instance the Glenn Miller's brilliant Moonlight Serenade.
