Abstract: The human brain has so far concealed its modes of functioning. Whilst human, and animal brains work more than a million times more slowly than modern computers, they are vastly superior e.g. when it comes to pattern recognitions, mobility steering, learning of languages, and to reacting to new situations. Brains are intelligent, are self-learning, and error-forgiving, in contrast to computers, and they even work on mass scales between milligram (ants) and 10 kg (whales), with peak efficiency near 1.4 kg (H.S.). I can recommend the book "On Intelligence" by Jeff Hawkins, Holt Paperback 2005.
