Abstract: Science is quite competitive in these days for observing astronomers! Out of the almost 350 detected planets around other stars in our galaxy none of them can be regarded as being an earth-like planet. Five out of six of these planets are Saturn sized and more than half of them are in larger eccentric orbits than Mercury. But this is the goal of the race: to find a planet with approximately the mass of the Earth, a density comparable to the one of our home planet AND - this is crucial - in an almost circular orbit around a Solar-like star in the so called habitable zone where water can be in the liquid form. In this seminar I will speak on the newest development of finding such a planet. Refs.: Dvorak, R. (ed): Extrasolar Planets. Formation, Detection and Dynamics Wiley-VCH (2007) p. 27, 287.
