Abstract: Physics is reliable at the textbook level of Landau & Lifshitz where it has been redundantly tested, but loses this property in frontier domains, equally so in astro-, geo-, bio-, and planetary physics, in particular when length scales shrink unresolvably small, or timescales grow unnoticeably long. From a list of over 80 examples, I shall discuss a few, among them the origin of oxygen in our atmosphere, the origin of the 2.728 K background radiation, the nature of the interstellar medium, the nature of the ubiquitous cosmic ab- sorbers, and the impossibility of faster-than-light signals.
