Kidricev trg

Trg Borisa Kidrica with a colum lies across from the Railway Station. At its edge, along Partizanska cesta, stands a giant monument to Boris Kidric, the work of the sculptor Stojan Batic. In this highly stylized sculpture four poles rise from among a group of people, to support a massive stone, the centre of which bears in an inset a carved head of Kidric. At the northwestern side of the Square stands a stylized column, created in 1967 by a Maribor Forma Viva participant, the Italian sculptor Lino Tine.In the 1860's, a gravel pit was located here. The square was named Wieland square after the German composer Krištof Wieland. During the mayorship of Aleksander Nagy, the square was regulated, trees were planted and a small park was laid out.
