Integrable chains of interacting nonlinear pendula

Professor Dr. Pavle Saksida
Mathematics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics
University of Ljubljana

Abstract: Chains of oscillators are of key importance in many mathematical and physical contexts, in particular in the theory of integrability. Indeed the very beginnings of the modern integrability were triggered by a study of such a chain by Fermi, Pasta and Ulam. Today, several classical and quantum integrable chains are known, and recently the area got a new push coming from the theory of integrable discretizations. We shall consider a new way of producing integrable chains of interacting (electrically charged) spherical pendula, each moving in a field of a magnetic monopole.

Seminarsko predavanje (v angleškem jeziku) bo v torek 17. marca 2009 ob 15:15 uri v seminarski sobi CAMTP na Krekovi 2, pritličje desno. Vljudno vabljeni vsi zainteresirani, tudi študentje.
